Specialised Department Market Control

The monitoring duties of the specialised Department Market Control are above all to be found in the sectors beef and pork, eggs and poultry, fruits, vegetables and potatoes (economic consumer protection).

In the manufacturing companies, packing companies (egg), slaughterhouses, as well as in the wholesale trade and distributing centres of the retail industries, agricultural products originating from animals and plants are tested by the Division’s quality inspectors, to ensure that the EU and German standards of quality are met, as well as the quality of merchandise and commercial categories. Uniform quality criteria facilitate the common trade and ensure that the needs of the population are met with consistently high quality products.
