To enable communication on the Internet, data must be transferred from the server on which it is stored to the connected computer that wants to access the content. For this purpose, the request to retrieve data must also indicate to which recipient the information is to be transmitted by the server. For this purpose, so-called IP addresses are assigned to all devices connected to the Internet. The IP address is transmitted automatically by the user's browser when a website is accessed.

Thus the IP addresses of users accessing the LAVES website and the data transmitted by the browser are processed by LAVES.

The processing is carried out in order to fulfil the tasks pursuant to Art. 6 Section 1 lit. (e) in conjunction with Art. 57 GDPR. The data is stored in accordance with the legal requirements.

Website Analysis

The websites of the State of Lower Saxony use Piwik, which is a so-called web analysis service. Piwik uses so-called "cookies". These are text files which are stored on your computer and which enable us to analyse the use of the website. For this purpose, the cookie-generated usage information is transmitted to our server and stored for usage analysis purposes. The evaluation of cookies serves to optimise the website. Your IP address is abbreviated during this process and thus made anonymous, so that you as a user remain anonymous to us. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website will not be passed on to any third parties. You can prevent the use of cookies by setting your browser software accordingly. In this case, however, you may not be able to use all functions of this website in full. If you do not agree to the storage and evaluation of this data from your visit, you may object to the subsequent storage and use at any time via mouse click. In this case, an opt-out cookie is stored in your browser which means that Piwik does not collect any session data.

Caution: If you delete your cookies, the opt-out cookie will also be deleted and you may have to activate it again.
