Specialised Department Task Force Consumer Protection
The Task Force Consumer Protection was established at the beginning of 2013 and is currently being structured from an organisational and professional point of view.
This specialised department consists of an interdisciplinary team of veterinarians, food chemists, food technologists, ecotrophologists and administrative staff.
The work of the Task Force Consumer Protection focuses on the following areas:
- routine data evaluation as part of early risk identification
- developing and carrying out of control programmes/auditing of own control systems in food companies together with the local food monitoring authorities
- organising and holding training courses and meetings for the local food monitoring authorities and other involved groups in cases of emergency
- planning and holding simulation exercises
- collecting, pooling and evaluating information in a crisis situation
- data management
- sample management
- involvement in compiling and updating a crisis management manual
Further tasks of the department are the further development of the official monitoring in the area of foods of animal and plant origin, of articles for daily use as well as cosmetic products. This occurs in the form of project work, e.g. compiling of implementation instructions for the monitoring authorities on official control of company internal controls (also for the export business) or the project on a company structure-oriented sample management
The Task Force Consumer Protection carries out evaluations of notifications via the EU rapid alarm systems.
